Glass rings for Swedish blinds

Glass rings for Swedish blinds

Postby Jackie on Wed May 13, 2009 2:05 pm

Does anyone know where I can get any? Or do other curtainmakers use the small acrylic rings that we sew on the back of Roman blinds?

And when you've sorted me out on that one, could anyone tell me whether they use normal Roman blind cord (mine is the cream coloured one which matches my lining) to hoist the darned things up, given that it is visible on the front?

All replies and suggestions gratefully received ...!!!

I believe you can get them from The Blue Door, a shop in London. The address is 74 Church Road, Barnes, London, SW13 ODQ http://www.bluedoorbarnes.co.uk tel 0208 748 9785. Also Pax Mariae, 35 Walcot Street, Bath, BA1 5BN 01225 465130.

I have also seen these made with the metal 'D' rings as supplied for tiebacks http://www.merrick-day.com/acatalog/Rings.html

Vanessa Arbuthnott has them in photos on her fabric site - they may be able to advise a source http://www.vanessaarbuthnott.co.uk/index.asp

HI Jackie,
I've used D rings in the past. We stock some coloured cords that you can use, but otherwise I've just used ivory/cream/white blind cord.

The shop in Bath that used to sell glass rings for Swedish Blinds has closed & the owner has returned home to Sweden. They used to sell @ £12 each so I would use D rings or even a curtain pole ring - just unscrew the eyelet. Hope that helps!
