I have made roman blinds with velvet a long time ago and this worked fine. I am a newbie to velvet curtains and actually posted a topic asking for help on curtains here a few weeks ago and a lot of members were able to give me advice on the construction and making using velvet for curtains. I have successfully completed my first pair and they hang beautifully. I would not know about using velvet for swags and tails as I have never made any but I have seen many swags and tails made from velvet before in hotels, stately homes etc so I assume it must be feasible - I am sure that a member will have the exact answer for you.
